If you count yourself as a bit of a plant connoisseur, this Narcissus bulbocodium ‘Spoirot’ is definitely one for you. The dainty petticoat flowers of this marvellous variety are a real talking point. Although they’re small and subtle from afar, up close you’ll be able to see that the flowers are a delicate and perfect work of art. The pale primrose-yellow blooms are highly unusual in their form, with slender pointed reflexed petals which show off a teacup-like trumpet. Despite its delicate looks, it’s just as hardy and reliable as any other daffodil and will soldier without fuss whatever the weather, flowering during spring every year.
With natural and alpine looks, Narcissus bulbocodium ‘Spoirot’ looks its best in a gravel garden or rockery, but will do just as well in a border or container. To fully appreciate its miniature beauty, add it to an outdoor table centrepiece where the flowers can be seen up close.
