It’s almost like someone—a mischievous child, bored artist, or playful garden imp, perhaps—decided to have fun with Narcissus ‘Trepolo’. How else can one explain the strange, un-daffodil-like colouring of this zany flower? The cup of this large butterfly split-corona daffodil has been neatly cut into six white segments, each lightly splashed with yellow, and then striped with bright coral down the middle! As the wash, and sometimes the stripe, reach the frilled edges, the colour pools and runs a little, like badly-applied paint!
The effect is stunning enough to make this pure white flower stand its own against any bright colours or combinations of colours thrown at it by other daffodils.
Watch the impressing composition of Fritillaria imperialis ‘Rubra’ and Narcissus ‘Trepolo’ on the 2nd image—it’s simply irresistible!
