Tulip ‘Double Shake’

Tulip ‘Double Shake’ has only just come on to the market, and we predict it will be a top-selling tulip for many years to come. It almost has a three-way personality: some have likened its flowers to those of a magnolia—and a very beautiful one as well! Then, as the large double blooms open, they start to look more like a peony. This is a soft, creamy white tulip with a subtle and sweet raspberry pink edging around its outer petals. The blooms only get more beautiful as they open to reveal a buttery centre with more raspberry-tinted flecks. 

Classed as a mid-season double, this new tulip is wonderful as a cut flower; its strong, tall stems are well able to carry the enormous flowers. Its fragrance is like a perfume, so Tulip ‘Double Shake’ bears being experienced close-up. 

Tulip ‘Double Shake’ was bred in the Netherlands—the home of the tulip—and it has a wonderful pedigree: its two top-selling tulip parents are ‘Shiun’ x ‘Evita’.
