Tulip ‘Hemisphere’ is the type of tulip you will need to take a second, third and even fourth look at—and a close-up look as well! Whereas most tulip flowers open, and then remain more or less the same until they fade, this tulip changes as the cup-shaped blooms age. The flowers mature so the whole effect is subtly variable: flowers usually start with more white than pink, after which they become more pink than white. However, there is also mottling, freckling and feint striping to give a variety of tints, tones and shades—yet they all look the same from a distance. It really is a very curious and enchanting characteristic! Tulip ‘Hemisphere’s flowers are at their best in mid to late spring.Â
Plant this tulip in the border or patio container, to create a highly unique display. Tulip ‘Hemisphere’ is a Triumph Group tulip (Division 3). It has broad, green, strap-like leaves, and it makes a good cut-flower tulip for the vase. It is ideal for tulip enthusiasts—or lovers of pink!
