Tulip ‘Negrita Double’

Few tulips offer such deep, vibrant, luxuriant colouring as the beautiful Tulip ‘Negrita Double’. Its vivid petals are royal purple with bluish undertones, but also streaked and veined with a deeper shade of beetroot-purple. This recently-introduced tulip is a beautiful peony-type, and holds its flowers on short, stout stems. When planted in groups it makes a wonderful display. Tulip ‘Negrita Double’ is suitable for beds, borders or patio containers, and will mix well with contrasting colours, such as whites, yellows or orange; or complementary colours including pinks and softer lilacs. For a really fiery look to your garden, grow it next to deep reds, oranges and different shades of purple.  

This beautiful tulip is wonderful as a cut flower, too; its strong, tall stems are well able to carry the heavy flowers. Tulip ‘Negrita Double’ is in tulip Division 11, known as the Double Late Group, and it is a double form of the Triumph tulip variety ‘Negrita’.
